Lakshmi watches Lion King at least four times a week in small parts. She takes on different roles at different times and asks one of us to take on other parts and we have a conversation.
Today she was Mufassa, the dad and I was Simba.
"One day I will die and you will become king" she began.
"Why will you die daddy? I can't live without you" I say.
"Everybody has to die one day. You will be king. You have to be brave" she says.
"What is brave? what is king?" I ask.
"Strronnng!" comes the answer. "You have to look after the jungle".
"Does that mean I cannot scare anyone?" I ask.
"You can scare the hyenas. But not the Raffikis and Nalas".
"But what will do when I miss you?" I ask.
"You will have Timone. Friends will be around. I will be in the sky to remind you when you do galat" came promptly.
Can I keep her thinking as crystal clear as she grows up and never teach her fear...I wonder...
