As we were walking back home on the Sunlit Path from school, lakshmi saw the statue of Shri Aurobindo. She has always been fascinated by this statue. She began looking at it when she two.
The questions started.
"Whose statue is this?"
Shri Aurobindo.
"Who was he?"
He did many things. He had many good ideas and also wrote poetry.
"What ideas did he have?"
On how children's schools should be...
"He did many things?"
Yes.
"He did them all at the same time?"
No He was a poet and a philosopher.
He finished one thing and then did another.
"He had many ideas? what ideas?"
Like what a beautiful school should be...
"Did he die? What happened to his bones? Are they in they in the statue?"
No his bones are part of earth now.
"So why did they put his statue here?"
Because he inspires people. he makes them get many ideas. he makes people happy.
Don't you like the statue?
"Yes I do"
Now I am browsing his biography more carefully to see if I can show childhood pictures of his and also for things that will move her. I know that this is not the end of that line of questioning. This is just teh beginning of history lessons.
